MCP Tool Reference

The EquipDash MCP server provides 114 tools organized by domain. Each tool maps to a specific operation on your EquipDash data.

How Tools are Organizedโ€‹

Tools are grouped into domains that mirror the sections of your EquipDash dashboard. For example, the Bookings domain contains tools for listing, creating, and managing bookings -- the same operations you'd perform in the Bookings section of the portal.

Tool Naming Conventionsโ€‹

All tool names follow the pattern action_resource:

PatternExamples
list_*list_bookings, list_products, list_customers
get_*get_booking, get_product, get_customer
create_*create_booking, create_product, create_customer
update_*update_booking, update_product, update_customer
check_*check_product_availability, check_experience_availability

Permission Filteringโ€‹

The tools available to your AI agent depend on the scopes granted to your API key. If your key only has bookings:read, the agent will only see read-only booking tools -- write tools like create_booking won't appear.

See MCP Authentication for the full scope-to-domain mapping.

Common Parameter Patternsโ€‹

Many tools share common parameter patterns:

Date Formatsโ€‹

  • Dates: YYYY-MM-DD (e.g., 2026-03-15)
  • Datetimes: YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS (e.g., 2026-03-15 09:00:00)
  • Natural language dates are also accepted by many tools: today, yesterday, this week

Paginationโ€‹

List tools accept a limit parameter (default 10, max 50) to control how many results are returned. For full pagination, use the REST API.

Confirmation Patternโ€‹

Write operations that modify data use a two-step preview/confirm pattern:

  1. First call (without user_confirmed): Returns a preview of what will happen
  2. Second call (with user_confirmed: true): Executes the operation

This prevents accidental changes and gives the user a chance to review before committing.

Search Parametersโ€‹

Most list tools accept a search parameter for filtering by name, email, or other identifying fields.

Tool Annotationsโ€‹

Tools include MCP annotations that indicate their behavior:

AnnotationMeaning
readOnlyTool only reads data, never modifies anything
destructiveTool deletes or cancels data (e.g., cancel_booking, delete_staff_shift)
openWorldTool sends emails or notifications to external recipients
